The most sincere thank-you is an easy transition. Winnebago and Worth Counties are ecstatic to partner with Home Base Iowa and the State of Iowa to assist veterans in returning home and transitioning to a civilian life. Both counties have partnered with Home Base Iowa in order to better assist our veterans and provide comprehensive resources to fit their needs. Winnebago and Worth Counties praise our nation’s veterans and welcomes them to our community. In addition to having high quality of life standards and easy access to highways and interstates, our communities are positioned halfway between Des Moines and Minneapolis, MN. This locational advantage gives residents the best of both worlds by providing a greater quality of life, virtually no crime, fantastic schools, and affordable housing. In order to make your transition to Winnebago and Worth Counties even more rewarding, we worked together to create additional veteran incentives. Please read on to learn more about these special veteran incentives.

The Act contains the following incentives:

  • Military Pensions exempt from state income tax
  • $5,000 grant toward the purchase of a home
  • Permissive veteran preference in employment Search/view Iowa businesses committed to hiring veterans Automatic in-state tuition at state universities and community colleges
